Holiday Poem

Merry Christmas Grandma

By: Simone Nabors

For as long as I can remember

We’ve spent Christmas Eve at your house

Reading “The Night Before Christmas”

Being afraid of the mouse

I’d stay up all night

Watching “The Christmas Story”

Until finally the sun would rise

And I could bask in my glory

We’d rush down the stairs

Without even a thought of eating

Our footsteps so quick

You’d think we were late for a meeting

Sydney, Josh, and I

Would take turns playing St. Nick

Passing our everyone’s gifts

But we made it quite quick

While we were all fooling around

You’d sneak up the stairs

After all, you would say

“Breakfast must be prepared”

Out of all of the smells

The one I remember most was the bacon

If they weren’t up yet

My taste buds were surely awakened

Christmas is a special time

To cherish all, this is true

But I wanted to personally say

“Merry Christmas” to you
